WEEK FIVE – AMANDA DOWN INCHES

March 10th, 2011

It is week five already and the weeks are flying by. I started off this week with a colonic irrigation treatment with Marese in Ultimate Health. I also did alot of training at home this week that was recommended by Jason Kenny my personal trainer in UL. I am still sticking to my healthy eating plan and its amazing really because when you do without something for a while you don’t miss it as much.

On Thursday morning I had another abdominal massage performed by Lisa in Ultimate Health. An abdominal massage is done to loosen all the toxin builds up in your abdomin; this is a good advantage before having a colonic.

On Friday morning I then had another good colonic treatment with Caroline in Ultimate Health. I felt like a new woman after all this; the bloating in my stomach has totally gone down over the last few weeks. On Thursday evening I had a very intense training session with Jason in UL.We trained on the track none stop, which is something I would never do on my own without the encouragement of Jason. I am much fitter now than I was five weeks ago and can do exercise now that I couldn’t have done five weeks ago.

I also had my weigh in this week but my weight hadn’t gone up or down BUT I have definitely lost inches off my waist, which I am thrilled about.

My diet is the same as last week but next week I will fill in on my liver flush, which I will be doing for next week. Until then Mandy.

Thursday 3rd had a great session in the gym enjoyed it, really starting to feel fitter and can work out longer before im out of puff. Need to start thinking about a class, or something to continue with when this is over as well as what I’ll do at home. After the gym I had my massage with Lisa at the clinic it was lovely and relaxing and I really enjoyed it, she also explained what it would do for the way and me it helps the bowel.

Friday 4th Felt really good this morning, my stomach felt really light and calm is the only way to describe it. Had my fourth colonic this afternoon and it went well, I was told so much before I started them, none of it good, but they are fine the first is a little embarrassing but after that no bother, Caroline gets on with it while you have a normal chat I’ll be sorry when im finished them as you feel so good after them. Had my weight in down 3lbs the first stone gone amazing.

Saturday 5th I started on the apple juice to-day in preparation for my liver flush next Saturday, it has left me feeling very full so must adjust the amount of food while im drinking it, bit tired but its the end of the week so that’s normal. Cant believe this is nearly over, im a different person the way I think about my food, how much im enjoying shopping for it, cooking it, and enjoying the taste of it. Also how much better I feel inside and out.

Sunday 6th Feeling great to day went for a long walk this morning and did a work out. Cant believe that’s another week gone, and its all coming to an end soon, but I will be keeping it up, and Caroline at the clinic will be keeping in touch, so that’s nice to know that the support will be there for me even when the competition is over. So roll on next week!!!!

UPDATE ON AMANDA & JANET WITH PERSONAL TRAINER JASON KENNY

March 3rd, 2011

This week saw Both Amanda and Janet push themselves very hard since they started their Personal Training Program with me.

We increased the intensity and combined both Resistance and cardio together to help burn that unwanted body fat.

Our resistance training was made up mainly of calisthenics and light weights. I always make sure that both Amanda and

Janet stretch and work the tendons and ligaments which can be an over looked element when doing a training program. Their

Cardio session included shuttle sprints, Steps and Track Running using a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) Method which

is proven most effective in improving fitness and burning calories.

Both Amanda and Janet are improving every week and are noticeably getting fitter and stronger. They have grown in confidence

and are more than familiar with their surroundings in The University Arena. Each week their program gets more intense and each

time they step up to the mark. They are an inspiration to anyone who thinks it cant be done.

Monday 21st Feb: Had a good day to day, got out at lunch time for a walk/jog it was a great day. I find im tasting my food more had fresh bass this evening and it was so nice, and im loving the brown rice no comparison to the white stuff. I’ve discovered its all about planning your diet for the week and for me that makes it easier to stick to it

Tuesday 22nd My blood pressure was down to-day and blood sugars so took a small amount marmalade, but was weak all day. Went to gym but just went at my own pace and that was fine.

Wednesday 23rd Better to day and got out again at lunchtime. Looking forward to a good session in the gym to-morrow and have my third treatment on Friday and also my third weigh in. Im enjoying the new diet but I miss my coffee and biscuits but will resist until this is over, but I know I’ll never go back to the amount of sugar I was eating before this and also the salt, im really conscious of the amounts in foods and adding it to food. For me now most food tastes better without it.

Thursday 24th Missed the gym to day as I was sick, had an upset stomach earlier, and now just a head cold, but feel miserable. Glad no one has seen me, I look a wreck, and didn’t sleep much. Hopefully I’ll feel better to-morrow busy weekend ahead.

Friday 25th had my third colonic to-day, and it went well, it goes so quick but it feels great when its over. Down 2lbs so that 11lbs so far, and im really pleased with that, if I can keep this up for the next 3 weeks I’ll be really happy with that. Still have the cold, but after the colonic my energy levels are up, so got out for a good walk and then did a 30min session at home to make up for last night. Having my first deep abdominal massage on Thursday evening so looking forward to seeing what that will be like.

Saturday 26th had a busy day with my nieces and nephew visiting, and with a bit of planning had a day out with them, that included MacDonald’s. I asked about their food and the girl gave me a complete list of all the food, and its contents fats sugars etc so you can pick what you can have. I had a grilled chicken wrap but could also have had the grilled chicken salad. Its nice to know you can still go to these places the odd time and not feel left out. I also brought fruit and water with me so that kept me full till I got home for dinner.

Sunday 27th Went out early for a good walk, but going to relax for the rest of the day, back to work in morning, and with this cold not gone completely don’t want to over do it. Have a busy week ahead and 3 weeks left so going to enjoy the rest of my ultimate transformation.

UPDATE ON MICHAEL & PAMELA WITH PERSONAL TRAINER WILLIE HEALY

February 24th, 2011

This week we’ve increased the intensity on the training programmes for both Pam and Mike. In her Boot camp classes, Pam has developed good upper body strength, which will benefit her when she goes swim training, as well as raising her metabolism to help burn more body fat. In this week’s class there was a greater emphasis on leg-strengthening exercises including squats and lunges, which will have Pam walking with some difficulty for a couple of days!

Mike is also making great progress and is supplementing his gym work with weight-training sessions at home. In his case we’ve had to increase the size of the dumbbells he’s lifting on bodyweight exercises like squats and step-ups. This is to compensate for the fact that he’s now considerably lighter compared to when he started the programme. In order for Mike and Pam’s programmes to achieve the desired results, there has to be continuous improvement on every session.

WEEK FOUR – AMANDA HAS LOST OVER A STONE (14.5LBS) SO FAR

February 24th, 2011

I cant believe its week four already, the weeks are flying and I’m enjoying every bit of it. Last Thursday morning was the start of my treats I had an abdominal massage done in Ultimate Health by Lisa. It was amazing it gives you the most relaxing sensation. You are brought into a private room with therapeutic music playing in the background while Lisa is performing her stuff massaging your abdomen. After that I went to the gym to meet Jason my personal trainer in UL. He put me through a very intense training session on the track, which was great, and he then did some weight training with us. I have been training away at home in between sessions and it seems to be going well for me. I had a weigh in today in Ultimate Health and I am down another 2.5lbs.Thats just over a stone in four weeks, which I am delighted with. Also this week I did a liver flush which consists of taking Epsom salts with water twice on day one and that night you have to drink olive oil mixed with fresh grapefruit which isn’t very nice but is worth it and then the following morning you have another two doses of Epsom salts with water again. It really is great if you can do it. My diet for this week was as follows;
WEDNESDAY;
BREAKFAST; 2 weetabix with low fat milk
LUNCH; homemade veg soup with mcCambridge bread
DINNER; fish fingers with beans
THURSDAY;
BREAKFAST; 2 weetabix with low fat milk
LUNCH; homemade veg soup
DINNER; boiled eggs with mcCambridge bread
FRIDAY
BREAKFAST; 2 weetabix with low fat milk
LUNCH; homemade veg soup with mcCambridge bread
DINNER; CHICKEN FRIED IN OLIVE OIL WITH BROWN RICE
SATURDAY;
BREAKFAST; 2 weetabix with low fat milk
LUNCH; homemade veg soup with mcCambridge brown bread
DINNER   ;omelette with chicken
SUNDAY   ;
BREAKFAST;2 weetabix with low fat milk
LUNCH    ;homemade veg soup with mcCambridge bread
DINNER   ;chicken cooked in olive oil with beans
MONDAY   ;
BREAKFAST;2 weetabix with low fat milk
I then started the liver flush so therefore didn’t have lunch or dinner today.

WEEK TWO – MICHAEL HAS LOST 20LBS

February 23rd, 2011

Another week of hell…went into Caroline to be thorn strips off for adjusting my diet/detox slightly…. big mistake…. food substitution is not allowed so guess what… gesus I’m back on the same bloody detox thingy again for week two. So read last weeks food and drugs list and go with the same EXCEPT for the odd can of diet coke and the odd bit of red meat. Take it from me changing a lifestyle is not easy, especially one built up over many years of “nice foods”.
This is my first weekend still on the detox. How I miss my power walk to my local”Duggans” along the road of death for some powerlifting exercises of a few pints. Or sitting at home with oh she who must be obeyed sipping a nice glass of wine watching a movie. All changed, changed utterly a terrible beauty has been unleashed.

Right he we go on the exercise plan.

Sunday, Instead of the walk to the pub we walked the prom in Lahinch and no drink.
Monday, Went for a 45-minute walk on Monday morning before the kids got up, should have seen the look on their faces. Monday evening out to Willys Gym for another hour of exercise.
Tuesday, Mixed up the message from Willy and arrived at his Gym at 7am for another session. I should have stayed in bed and arrived at 5pm like he told me. Anyway the circuit was tough but I got it done in the hour. Barely able to walk back to the van I was so glad it had power steering as my arms didn’t have much strength left in them to turn the wheel.
Wednesday, Got up early again and went for a soft walk for about 40 min, home shower and kids out to school. Felt tired today, not bursting with energy, work was quiet, what’s new about that. Had dinner at lunchtime and a bowl of veg soup (homemade) this evening. Off to Willys Gym again for another hour of pain and suffering…beginning to think Willy was a member of Hitler’s SS youth brigade as he’s killing us…or maybe its only me as everyone else is still able to walk afterwards. Boy did I enjoy the shower when I got home.
Thursday, more rabbit food and more of Caroline’s Ultimate Health Drugs and birdseeds. More of the same menu as last week. Its not that there is anything wrong with it, it’s just so restrictive its soul destroying. If she puts me back on this again next week I’m off to bloody Enzo’s or the like in protest.
Friday, Off to the Gym again for another workout before visiting the Wicked Witch of the East in Limerick. After last week I new I wouldn’t feel like doing much exercise after the treatment, actually for a few days after to be honest. Not that there is anything wrong but personally I don’t feel like straining myself with a weights session. Others I’m told are jumping’ ’round the garden afterwards.
Saturday, Survived yesterday, even got our pictures taken for the paper and a bit of a write up. Wooah, not looking forward to all the slagging next Tuesday when this hits the news stands. All well the cause is good…. me not getting a heart attack because of all this weight. Oh, and I was right, I don’t feel like exercise today, I feel like a Duvet Day today like my eldest would come out with sometimes, Ah well off to work, hope today is busy as time flies when it is. Thankfully, she put me on the Diet proper this week. But I think I’ve bored you enough at this stage so I ‘ll hold the details and my success or failure till next week.
Just in case your wondering have I lost any weight at this stage, well I had a weighing too and lets just say since I started I’ve lost more than 20 lbs to date.
Off we go into the abyss of week three and the novelty of the idea is beginning to ware off now, from now on its just the hard slog of losing weight, its alot easier putting it on than it is getting it off.

UPDATE ON AMANDA & JANET – PERSONAL TRAINING WITH JASON KENNY

February 23rd, 2011

This week in the University of Limerick, Sports Arena, we introduced resistance training and core combing

by using weights and the gym ball. Both Amanda and Janet are making a real effort to with everything that

is thrown at them. Each week they are getting stronger and their fitness levels are creeping up. Their techniques

have improved immensely.

We have implied High intensity Interval Training in our sessions and in doing so demands less time spent on

a treadmill or elliptical trainer but giving the desired effect, while keeping an interest in what they are doing. All

of the exercises that I have shown them can be done any where, and doesn’t necessarily need to done in a gym.

Both Amanda and Janet are given a program to follow outside of training days in the gym and are really making an

effort to stick to it. They are down on weight and are up on energy, which is exactly what any weight loss program

should entail. Both Amanda and Janet are an inspiration to all those out there who wish to get involved in an exercise

and diet program. ‘No more excuses’ is what we all need to imply, and both these ladies do this so well.

TUE 15th Feb had a session in the gym with Jason it’s getting harder but I can see the results even after a week, I could do things to day that I couldn’t do a week ago and feel proud of that. I know I wouldn’t do it on my own so its great to have the personal trainer, and also Mandy training along side me. Im full of
energy when I come out could do more.

SATURDAY19th I went up home to=day and everyone really helped with my diet, so it was easy to stick to it. I did have 1 bite of cake but that was it and even stayed away from the pub but was tempted. I tried on my wedding dress again to-day, and it fitted better than it ever did so thanks for picking me for this ultimate transformation its working and I feel great.
SUNDAY 20th: Went for a 7-mile walk to day with the ballywilliam shed a tonne gang and my training is working I did it no bother. The whole weekend has really given me a boost and I can see what i’ve achieved in the last 3 weeks and am determined to stick to this new healthy lifestyle even when this is all over.

WEEK THREE – AMANDA HAS LOST 12LBS

February 18th, 2011

This week has been a tough week, especially where the gym was concerned. Jason Kenny the fitness trainer is really putting us through the motions, which I am delighted with because I would never be able to push myself without the support. It helps enormously to have someone there telling you that you can do it and pushing you that extra mile because we can all do it but most of us need a push. In between my training sessions with Jason I train away myself. I am still following a good diet and taking colon-cleansing capsules after every meal, which are supplied by Ultimate Health. I feel great at the moment and friends and family have already started to notice my weigh loss and I feel it in my clothes myself which is great after 3 weeks. Long may it last. Today I had my third colonic with Caroline in Ultimate Health. lot of people have been asking me am I embarrassed and does it hurt, just to let everyone know colonic irrigation is not what some people make it out to be,OK,when you go for the very first time it is a bit embarrassing at first but Caroline makes you feel so relaxed you don’t even remember what’s been done because Caroline and yourself are just chatting away and its over before you know it and it definitely does not hurt at all. Marese in Ultimate Health also does colonics and is also very professional and friendly. I have undergone colonics with both Caroline and Marese and they both make you feel very comfortable. I am bursting with energy which I need as I have 5 children to look after. I also had my third weigh in today and I am down another 2lbs today. Thats 12lbs in 3 weeks which isn’t bad at all.
